A Note About Breakups, Friends-style

It's been a stressful week, so I've been relying on humor from Friends to get me through.

I present this clip: Chandler trying to break up with the gym. Here's a link to the clip.

When I look at many different life situations: switching banks, switching jobs, switching lovers, switching hairdressers, this clip sums it up.

Enjoy, discuss, commiserate.

A Note About Disturing the Freak Hive

I just finished watching the Lady GAGA Episode of Glee. Here's what I learned.

1. Duets with the parentals should be unique.
Rachel singing the stripped down version of Poker Face with her mom (guest star Idina Menzel) was adorable, and also slightly creepy. Mostly adorable.

2. If you want to scare a football team, dress like Dr. Frank-n-Furter.
That red hower curtain just wan't Finn's color.

3. Stuffed Animal Dresses are a Do
If you sew them on. Major props to Lea Michelle for dancing an entire number in a dress made of stuffed animals.

4. Mike O'Malley is a great actor.
I've loved his part as Kurt's dad. As a fan of Mike since his "Guts" hosting days, it's nice to see him get some meaty materieal.

5. Twilight mania has a place in mainstream televisoin.
Ex 1: group of rabid teen girls wearing team Edward and team Jacob shirts. And Ex 2: Tina scaring the daylights of Principal Figgins.

A Thank You Note to the CW

Dear CW,

We've had our aches and pains over the years. I've been working on forgiving you for the whole cancelling Buffy and Roswell and shifting them to UPN thing.

Although, I may never forgive you for the dreadful resurrection of 7th Heaven. The last three or four years of that show were a straight up joke.

I have to thank you personally for listening to the fans for once. Most importantly in regard to One Tree Hill. This show has really meant a lot to me. I've grown up with Nathan, Brooke, Lucas, Peyton, Haley, and the others in Tree Hill. We've graduated high school, went to college, and struggled into adulthood at the same time.

I was terrified that this constant in my life, this one bond, would be yanked from my life today with your 2010-2011 season announcement. Nobody thought One Tree Hill would live to see this September, most especially me. But I had a change of heart in the last week. I began to feel guilt for commenting a few weeks ago that I thought maybe it was time to end.

But, I braced for the worst. There's nothing I hate more than an unplanned series finale (see Angel's Not Fade Away), which would have happened with Monday night's possible double murder of two main characters. SPOILER- Clay AND Quinn get shot by that crazy tennis player Katie that wants Clay to be her agent/lover.

Now season 7 hasn't been the best with the departures of Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton, but I've stuck with you. I've stuck with you through the five year jump, the murder of Uncle Keith, the birth of little Jamie, and I've continued to love and support the show.

But now one tree hill has the time, whether it be a half a season or a full season, to go out with dignity and grace. Not just tying up ends with tearful songs and long speeches.

It's going to take more than a trip to Utah for Haley to get over her depression and losing her mother. Mouth and Skills can't just go back to being bros overnight. Brooke and Julian can't just get engaged and ride off into the sunset. And have we ever seen the last of dan Scott? I think not.

Positive note: Brooke and her mother can finally get along. That part of the episode was nice and very necessary. One of these kids needs a stable parent in their life, especially since Karen moved on in season 5. And we need to see Lucas and Peyton one more time before the end, with their baby.

This show started about a group of brothers, begrudgingly becoming friends, and trying to find their place in the world. Let's bring it out the way we came in this fall.

A Note about the ABC upfront

Network upfront week, also known around my house as "the kiss and cry corner" of tv, is once again upon us. While I'll need another time to go into detail about my feelings, I can say one thing for sure about ABC's new season. Mr. Sunshine, a new show starring Matthew Perry is pretty much a ripoff of a Matthew Perry movie, known as "Seventeen Again."

Don't get me wrong, I love "17 Again", and I respect Matthew Perry, and yes, I will always remember him fondly as Chandler. But I don't think we should have to suffer through another project where he laments that his forties weren't all he hoped they would be.

This time, Zac Efron won't be there to look adorable and take my mind off Matthew Perry's complaining.

A Note About Corny Guest Starrings

Despite everything bad people can say about Grey's Anatomy, I've always been loyal.

I've stood by through everything.

But this week's commercial ended with the dramatic, "special guest star Demi Lovato."

Really?

A Note About Brothers, Sisters, and Poorly Timed Plots

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We've put up with a lot this year. I've stood by through Luc's immigration struggle, the search for Narrow Lake, Justin and Rebecca's failed wedding and miscarriage, Robert's shifty business, and Kitty's cancer.

Now this week, you decide to throw it all back at us tenfold.

It wouldn't be a surprise if Robert is the victim of next week's car crash (second major accident of the season if we count the fairly delightful 80's flashback episode), since he is leaving at the end of this season and it has been confirmed that next season will jump into the future, a feature first popularized by One Tree Hill's season 5 jump, according to this week's print edition of Entertainment Weekly.

But alas, back to the main problem with this episode: Ojai Foods and Narrow Lake. We knew Ojai was heading downhill, but it seems so sudden after last week that they would just shut their doors. Go figure. On to newer plot points... but where will the family/office drama take place now? Maybe Justin and Tommy can go into business, running a detox facility??

And Narrow Lake.

For months, we hoped Narrow Lake would be something, anything, sent from William Walker's grave, to save the family. Of course, it was not in the end. When Nora discovered the blueprints for a house at Narrow Lake, my thoughts weren't "Oh well, William Walker wasn't such a bad guy. He must have loved his wife even thought he left the company unstable and cheated on her for years," as Sarah tried to stress.

My thoughts: This is the worst plot point ever! Honestly, William Walker was even more of a villain and a horrible father for leaving false hope that his family would be spared by this long-ago investment.
