Paging Dr. Mindy: Let's Get A Doctor's Note For This News

I have to thank BuzzFeed for this meme.

Hello everyone! I'm taking a break from my Month of Bridal Showers to expound on some terrible news. Fox has cancelled The Mindy Project! Words cannot really explain how upset I am by this...

We are rocking a major cliffhanger of an episode! Danny Castellano is finally coming to become the romantic male lead we always knew he could be! I'm hoping the show might be picked up by cable or something... a la Cougartown, just two years ago. I could see this type of move working for the quirky comedy Mindy brings to TV. While still reeling from the death of McDreamy, this is more than my TV-finale bound heart can take.

A Note: Are the TV Execs on Crack?

I'm concerned about the swirling rumors that Cougartown can't find a time slot for its winter return on ABC (yeah, because shows like shark tank offer so much more to us as a culture), and there's a petition going around to save Community from ending. Say what???? These are two of the best multi-cast friend-group comedies around and they can't find spots for them? Check yourself before you wreck yourself. If anyone has some ideas about what to send the networks (a la Roswell and Tabasco sauce), let me know. I'm thinking penny cans and pencils?????

A Note About Friends without Boundaries- AKA the Return of Cougartown

Dearest Cougartown,

I have missed you. You were gone far too long. It's been a long while since I thought of playing penny can, contemplated a 2pm siesta, made fun of tiny eyes, completely invaded a friend's personal space and boundaries, or sat down with a Big Carl-sized glass of wine.

But fear not! CT is back in 4 days! And even better- there are two episodes on this week! Big Carl glasses all around. In the meantime, I just realized there has been a string of CT "actors vs. writers"videos on NY Magazine's Vulture. Time to watch! I started with the last one (Christa Miller (Elie) lamenting to her husband/show creator Bill Lawrence about not getting to star in any videos). I'm going back to where it all began, video #1, where Dan Byrd (Travis) tries to convince the actors and writers to keep his hair the way it is. Spoiler alert- they do not like his hair, and mercilessly mock it!

A Note About Why Cougartown Had 15 Solid Minutes

For most sitcoms, there's a zing, a joke, a pause, a plot, a wardrobe change, final zing, and a resolution. But for Wednesday's Cougartown' episode "No Reason to Cry" had me laughing and smirking solidly. The greatness of this show comes from the writing that sounds like real dialogue, the character relationships, and the playing up of all-too-often mundane situations (like Jules accidentally killing a bird). Here below is a list of the reasons why this episode was great:

15. Andy giving people the wrong names of distant acquaintances, only to have them call said acquaintances by the wrong name.

14. The return of Bobby's boat. (How did they get it out of the ocean in such good condition?

13. Lori talking about her screenplay about slutty insects titled "Bug Hookers."

12. Travis likening the cul-de-sac crew to the Children of the Corn.

11. Bobby's one-minute summary of current events.

10. Jules picking out the "Jules dove," which has "finger guns with tiny claws."

9. The commercial for cougartownandysdreams.com. Actual site: http://abc.go.com/shows/cougar-town/andys-dreams/ThemeGallery/671709

8. Lori's complicated coffee orders, including a "Taye Diggs," which is tall, black, and extra sweet.

7. Bobby's shameless promotion of Diet Dr. Pepper, one of the show's sponsors.

6. The reinforced idea that dove brains are only the size of a tic tac.

5. Jules agreeing to talk/yell at Grayson only for the amount of time it took him to cross the street.

4. Pirate references.

3. Grayson's sly Prince reference, "This is what it sounds like when doves cry." Furthermore, Grayson's Prince references throughout the season.

2. Nonfat teeny tiny, extra shot of yum.

1. Andy writing fake apology notes from his wife as a "special" thing between them.
